Land o’ Burns Tours
Known as Scotland’s favourite son, and famous all over the world for his poems and songs, Robert Burns was born in Alloway, Ayrshire. Burns grew up in poverty and hardship and, with little regular schooling, got most of his education from his father, a tenant farmer. This day-tour neatly explores his life and legacy.
Duration: 8 hours.
At-a-glance itinerary: The beautiful village of Alloway, the Robert Burns Birthpalce Museum and the cottage where Burns was born…then a stroll over the Brig o’ Doon, immortalised in his much loved verse, Tam o’ Shanter…refreshments at the Brig O’ Doon Hotel, then to Kirkoswald with a visit to the home of Rabbie’s friend, Souter Johnnie… then to Tarbolton to Robert Burns Bachelor’s Club, probably the world’s first rural debating society. If time allows, we visit the parish of Mauchline and the Burns Memorial Tower.
